Ashland, Virginia…The Center of the Universe
Ashland is proud to be an artistic and culturally-rich community with local artists of all types. This quaint town is home to art galleries, the Ashland Theatre, antique stores, and several unique shops throughout. Ashland and the surrounding areas are rich with events like the Strawberry Faire, Ashland Train Day, Light Up The Tracks, Santa Train, and the Ashland Farmer’s Market to name a few. Let us be your hub for exploring historic Ashland, the many Civil War Battlefield sites nearby, Scotchtown (former home of Patrick Henry), historic Hanover Tavern, and we’re just across the tracks from the beautiful campus of Randolph-Macon College. Located just 20 minutes from Richmond, 90 minutes from Washington DC or the beach, 60 minutes from beautiful Charlottesville, the mountains (great for taking in all the fall foliage) and wonderful wine country makes The Henry Clay Inn a great starting point for all your adventures.
And let us not forget the TRAINS. We are just across the street from the Ashland/Hanover Visitors Center, which is the historic train depot built in 1923 and is the hop on/off point for Amtrak. You can step off the porch of The Henry Clay Inn and onto the train to head north to DC, NY, Boston and all the destinations in-between. Or, head south for all the splendor of the southeast on your way to Florida! We’re a favorite for train buffs from all over, and you can often find them rocking on our front porch watching the CSX and Amtrak trains roll by.
Come check out what everyone is talking about. The Henry Clay Inn is the perfect home base for exploring Ashland and the whole Mid-Atlantic region, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
