The year 2020 is one like we’ve never experienced. Our once big world became very small. The hustle and bustle of everyday life came to an abrupt halt. Simple things like trips to the grocery store became a cautionary tale. At The Henry Clay Inn®, the silence was deafening. No longer was it possible for our extended family from all across the globe to travel to our historic Inn. Our rooms and our hearts were empty.
These changes created a time of soul searching and reflection for our team. After speaking with our neighbors, we decided to reopen our restaurant. It was something that we were working towards doing, but as the saying goes, “there’s no time like the present.” While not expected, we were bound and determined to make our reopening special.
We started with curbside pickup service for Easter Dinner. The response from the community was overwhelming and resulted in a sellout. It was humbling and inspiring. Next up was Mother’s Day, which again was a hit. Father’s Day didn’t just bring the warm weather. It brought the reopening of our spacious porch for outdoor, socially-distanced dining.
Great food. Great drinks. Great friends.
And so the comeback of The Restaurant at The Henry Clay Inn® began.
